Building Equality: Celebrating Women in Construction Week
This week, we celebrate International Women’s Day and Women in Construction (WIC) Week—a time to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women in the construction industry and at large. This is an opportunity to elevate the conversations that are forging a more inclusive world through gender equity.
Here’s what I’m looking forward to this week:
Sticky Floors to Open Doors: Lessons in Retaining Women in Construction
The number of women in construction in the U.S. hit the 1 million mark in 2022, a first since data started being collected in 1964. Although more women are joining the construction industry, fewer are staying to make it a career.
Register today for our Foundations for Progress webinar to hear our expert panel address practical solutions for this critical issue, “From Sticky Floors to Open Doors: Lessons in Retaining Women in Construction.”
I will be moderating this panel alongside leaders like:
- Anita Wolley Nelson, Chief Strategy Officer at Skanska
- Jorge Quezada, Chief Diversity Officer/VP of People & Culture at Granite Construction
- Jennifer Wilkerson, VP of Innovation and Advancement at the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER)
We’ll discuss the latest research and strategies for retaining women in construction throughout key phases of their career. Register now.
Affinity Groups with Rakhi Voria, Vice President of Global Sales
The Women in Construction 2024 Virtual Event, hosted by Annex Business Media, is an opportunity to discover the insights needed to navigate the evolving demands for women in construction, on and off the jobsite. Rakhi Voria, Vice President of Global Sales at Procore, will be joining a panel to discuss starting—and sustaining—a Women’s Group at your workplace.
Celebrating alongside Procore’s WIN ERG
Procore’s Women’s Impact Network’s (WIN) is an Employee Resource Group (ERG) with a mission to foster and support an inclusive community of women through learning, growth, mentorship, and connection. The WIN ERG has developed programming throughout the month of March for Procore employees to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments and achievements of women globally.
Highlights include a virtual panel of Black women in construction, a personal conversation around postpartum mental health, and a fireside chat with the women of Procore’s Board of Directors. These events are open to all Procore employees and offer the opportunity to better understand the experiences of women in the workplace while also highlighting women at Procore.
Stay connected throughout the year
These conversations are important to continue throughout the year. Procore’s WIC initiative aims to increase the presence of women in construction by leveraging the Procore network to provide resources. Learn more and get involved at procore.com/wic.
