Celebrating International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day (IWD) takes place each year on March 8. Since 1911, the day has celebrated women’s social, economic, cultural, and political achievements, while rallying for gender equality.
The theme for IWD 2021 is ‘ChooseToChallenge’. In honor of IWD and Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating people who have broken down barriers and challenged gender inequality. It’s a collective effort, and together we can create a more equitable world that everyone thrives in.
At Procore, we’re continuing to build an inclusive culture that’s grounded in diversity and a shared sense of belonging. We want people to be themselves and realize their full potential. We are celebrating people’s differences and unique experiences. We are also providing resources and support to drive bold conversations and inspire meaningful action in the construction industry.
We are inspired by women who are challenging the status quo, breaking new ground, and building what’s next. Gender equality is an essential human right, and Procore is taking action to open doors for everyone. Our progress includes diversifying our board of directors and recruiting two female board members, revising our employee calibration practices, and hiring a workforce with more women and people of color.
We’ve also taken steps to improve gender equality in the construction industry through our long-standing Women in Construction (WIC) initiative. During our recent webinar, female construction leaders discussed the progress women have made and the work that needs to be done. Tiesha Moore, President and Co-owner of G3 Electrical, spoke about the power of representation and mentorship.
“Whether we like it or not, we have a duty to represent women in construction,” she said. “We can’t shy away from opportunities to highlight ourselves or to be highlighted by others as a woman in the industry. That’s how we fulfill our duty to inspire and motivate the next generation of female leaders. If they don’t see us, they won’t know we’re here.”
While these initiatives reflect progress, we know that there is still so much more to do. We are excited about the journey to create a more inclusive company and construction industry.
